The Process (More Details)
- Submit Part 10 Renovation/Change of Use Permit Application to OSSO
- Complete and submit permit application (found above)
- Review by Area Inspector
- Application Response
- Response time is 5 to 10 business days, pending initial review by area inspector and supply of any supplemental information request by inspector
- If refused, a copy of the Renovation/Change of Use Application will state the course of action required to obtain an approved application
- If approved, the Renovation/Change of Use permit is issued
- One (1) copy goes to the city building department
- One (1) copy is kept at the OSSO
- One (1) copy is for the applicant (include a copy of this permit with any building applications submitted to the City of Ottawa)
Note: An approved Renovation/Change of Use Application is not a Permit to commence construction of your project. It is only a comment from this office concerning the capacity of the current septic system and its ability to accommodate the proposed Renovation/Change of Use.

- Fee payment at time of submission

This application is required when constructing a residential or commercial addition to a structure that:
- Exceeds 15% of the current floor space AND/OR
- Includes the addition of bedrooms AND/OR
- Addition of plumbing units AND/OR
- If the City of Ottawa Plans Examiner requires written approval from this Office
